Mr. Jeffrey Phillips is completing his 23rd year as a band director with New Philadelphia City Schools. Upon graduating from Heidelberg University in May of 2003 with a degree in Music Education, Mr. Phillips applied for and accepted the position of band director at Welty Middle School and assistant band director at New Philadelphia High School.

Currently Mr. Phillips serves as the band director at New Philadelphia High School and assistant director at Welty Middle School

During his tenure at New Philadelphia, Mr. Phillips has directed the sixth, seventh and eighth grade bands, NPHS Concert, Symphonic and Marching Bands and coached middle school girls’ basketball.

In the fall of 2006, Mr. Phillips reprised the dormant steel band program beginning with eleven students and six instruments. Currently, there are three steel bands with an enrollment of 120 students and 55 instruments.

Students in his classroom expect a thoroughly prepared lesson with an energetic, structured and fun rehearsal environment.

Mr.Phillips is blessed with a loving and supportive family, including wife Emily and daughters Audryanna and Josie.

Miss Anna Brown is a 2017 alumni of New Philadelphia and is completing her 5th year as a band director. Upon graduating from the University of Mount Union in May of 2021 with a degree in Music Education, Miss Brown applied and taught near Lake Erie as a middle/high school band director until 2025 when she returned to New Philadelphia.

Currently Miss Brown serves as the band director at Welty Middle School and assistant director at New Philadelphia High School.

Miss Brown is happy to have a supportive family and her fiance Tristan Acker.
